H. Jan Schouten, 'Bottles and bowl', 1985. Oil on canvas. Still life of four bottles and a bowl. Title on the reverse of the canvas. Signature at bottom left. Jan Schouten (Rotterdam 1906 - Gouda 1987). After studying at the Academie voor Beeldende Kunst in Tilburg, he settled in Gouda in 1949 as a painter. He was the director of the Stedelijke Musea Gouda from 1956 until he retired. Condition: shows signs of wear. Dimensions: image plane 39.5 x 44.5 cm, with frame: 44.5 x 46.7 x 2.5 cm.
