H. Jan Schouten, 'A private meeting in granite (Homage to Dodeigne)', 1982. Oil on canvas. Painting of two statues with mountains in background. Title on the reverse of the canvas. Signature at bottom right. Jan Schouten (Rotterdam 1906 - Gouda 1987). After studying at the Academie voor Beeldende Kunst in Tilburg, he settled in Gouda in 1949 as a painter. He was the director of the Stedelijke Musea Gouda from 1956 until he retired. Condition: good, bottom of frame is loose. Dimensions: image plane 70.5 x 50.2 cm, with frame: 71.2 x 51.3 x 3 cm.
