H. Jan Schouten, 'Shells', 1985. Oil on a panel. Still life of sea creatures. Title on the reverse of the work. Signature at the bottom centre. Jan Schouten (Rotterdam 1906 - Gouda 1987). After studying at the Academie voor Beeldende Kunst in Tilburg, he settled in Gouda in 1949 as a painter. He was the director of the Stedelijke Musea Gouda from 1956 until he retired. Condition: shows signs of wear. Dimensions: image plane 35.2 x 58.5 cm, with frame 36.1 x 59.3 x 3 cm.
