Jan Strijbos, 'Ave Maria', 1975-1980. Oil on hardboard in wooden frame. Full portrait of two people on brown background with tiled floor. Title at bottom centre. Signature at bottom right. Jan (Johannes) Strijbos (Eindhoven 1896 - Merkelbeek 1977) was a carpenter. After he retired, he became a self-made painter in the naïve style and crafted the frames for his works himself. Condition: good; frame shows signs of wear. Dimensions: image plane 36 x 30.5 cm, with frame 46 x 43 x 4 cm.
