H. Jan Schouten, 'Still life with conch shell and wine glass', no date. Oil on canvas. Still life of a conch shell and rummer on blue and orange canvas. Signature at bottom right. Jan Schouten (Rotterdam 1906 - Gouda 1987). After studying at the Academie voor Beeldende Kunst in Tilburg, he settled in Gouda in 1949 as a painter. He was the director of the Stedelijke Musea Gouda from 1956 until he retired. Condition: good, paint has come off the canvas at the bottom left and all four corners of the frame are detached from the canvas. Dimensions: canvas 49.5 x 60 cm, with frame 52.5 x 62.5 x 3 cm.
