Jan Strijbos, 'The cigarette', 1960-1980. Oil on hardboard in wooden frame. Full-length portrait of a woman holding cigarette on blue background. Title at bottom left. Signature at bottom right. Jan (Johannes) Strijbos (Eindhoven 1896 - Merkelbeek 1977) was a carpenter. After he retired, he became a self-made painter in the naïve style and crafted the frames for his works himself. Condition: good; frame shows signs of wear. Dimensions: image plane 41.3 x 31.4 cm, with frame 40.4 x 49.5 x 2 cm.
