Jan Strijbos, 'The Lord is no more' (funeral of Nixon), 1960-1980. Oil on hardboard in oak frame with corner decoration. Painting of a group of people around a coffin with a psalm about Nixon at the bottom. Title on the cross. Signature at the bottom right. Jan (Johannes) Strijbos (Eindhoven 1896 - Merkelbeek 1977) was a carpenter. After he retired, he became a self-made painter in the naïve style and crafted the frames for his works himself. Condition: shows signs of wear. Dimensions: image plane 57 x 47 cm, with frame 74 x 64.3 x 2.5 cm.
