Jan Strijbos, 'In heaven he will never be', 1975-1980. Oil on hardboard in wooden frame. Full-length portrait of a religious man smiling at a nude person lying on grass. Title at bottom left. Signature at bottom right. Jan (Johannes) Strijbos (Eindhoven 1896 - Merkelbeek 1977) was a carpenter. After he retired, he became a self-made painter in the naïve style and crafted the frames for his works himself. Condition: good; frame shows signs of wear. Dimensions: image plane 40 x 50 cm, with frame 43 x 52.6 x 0.9 cm.
