Jan Strijbos, ‘50 years but no heaven’, 1960-1980. Oil on hardboard in wooden frame. Full-length portrait of two women and a nun by a tree in front of a building. Title at bottom centre. Signature at bottom right. Jan (Johannes) Strijbos (Eindhoven 1896 - Merkelbeek 1977) was a carpenter. After he retired, he became a self-made painter in the naïve style and crafted the frames for his works himself. Condition: good; frame shows signs of wear. Dimensions: image plane 37.5 x 34 cm, with frame 65.5 x 46 x 2 cm.
