H. Jan Schouten, 'Lost corner (The Cannon)', 1948-1952. Oil on canvas. Still life of a cannon surrounded by fallen fence and wall. Signature at bottom right. Jan Schouten (Rotterdam 1906 - Gouda 1987). After studying at the Academie voor Beeldende Kunst in Tilburg, he settled in Gouda in 1949 as a painter. He was the director of the Stedelijke Musea Gouda from 1956 until he retired. Condition: good, paint has come off the frame in places and the lower left frame is detached from the canvas. Dimensions: image plane 95 x 85 cm, with frame 110.2 x 100 x 4.6 cm.
