H. Jan Schouten, 'Truus (Gertrudis Johanna Elisabeth) van Luijtelaar (Gestel 1914 - Gouda 2008)', c. 1950-1951. Oil on canvas. Bust portrait of the artist's wife, on a light background. Signature at bottom right. Jan Schouten (Rotterdam 1906 - Gouda 1987). After studying at the Academie voor Beeldende Kunst in Tilburg, he settled in Gouda in 1949 as a painter. He was the director of the Stedelijke Musea Gouda from 1956 until he retired. Condition: good, but the left corner of the frame is detached from the frame. Dimensions: image plane 55.4 x 40.3 cm, with frame 64.5 x 50.5 x 5 cm.
