Japanmuseum SieboldHuis

When general practitioner Philipp Franz von Siebold lived in Japan from 1823 till 1829, he established a large collection of prints, old maps, ceramics, herbaria, fashion, and more. Until the mid 19th century, his unique collection of Japanese curiosa was open to the public at his home at the Rapenburg in Leiden. Since 2005, the large variety of Japan-related treasures can again be visited here. The museum is now called Japan Museum SieboldHuis.
